Students from Madison and BATA have begun their May internships! We would like to recognize the following establishments for their commitment to community service and for welcoming CV students as they begin the CO-OP experience.

Dimock Community Health Center

Community Voices currently is working with students from Madison Park High School, Boston Adult Technical Academy (BATA) and ABCD’s University High School. Below is information for each individual school as well as links to photos taken during class.

Madison Park High School: Community Voices has teamed up with teacher Carol Reid and Madison Park’s Health Academy to train students in public outreach, photography and to help bring awareness for the need to reducehealth disparities. We have invited guest speakers including health professionals and public health workers to provide insight into the major issues facing youth. Students will also participate in month long internships at a local health centers or health clinics where they will have the chance to take photographs and conduct interviews while working in a health related environment. The semester will end with each student focusing on a specific health issue and using there training to create photo essays geared toward the public. Our class meets every Wednesday from 8:15 to 11:30am.

BATA: Community Voices has teamed up with ABCD’s Boston Adult Technical Academy (BATA) to provide a course that takes an in depth look at the major issues facing youth and their health. We focus primarily on the importance of reducing health disparities as well as provide them with information about ways to stay healthy; this includes inviting guest speakers and professionals from the community whose main job is to address public health issues. Some students will also be given month long internships at local health centers or health clinics. Our class meets every Friday from 1 to 2:15pm.

University High School: Community Voices is currently working with a class from ABCD’s University High School to provide a course that takes an in depth look at the major issues facing youth and their health. We focus primarily on the importance of reducing health disparities as well as provide them with information about ways to stay healthy. Our class meets every Tuesday from 3 to 5pm.
